The Limelight Theatre does not offer its own adult educational program, but is proud to recommend and/or sponsor the following professionals in the St. Augustine area:

Actors Studio of St. Augustine

The Actors Studio in St. Augustine offers semester-long adult acting courses in the Meisner acting technique. This “emotional honesty” technique teaches students to stop “acting” and react honestly to their partners from moment to moment. Joanna Horton, Director/Instructor for the studio, studied the Meisner technique at the Sally Johnson Studio in New York City and studied and taught at the Actor’s Workshop in Ithica, NY. No previous acting experience is required but dedication to studying the craft of acting is necessary.

Scott Abrams Improv Workshops

Scott has been in theatre for more than 24 years. He directed ImprovJacksonville and performed with that improv/comedy troupe for seven years. He’s performed on stages all over the country, from Key West to California, Atlanta to Alaska, and directed live theatre, television, radio and film. Scott has coached thousands of people in theatre programs and corporate workshops.

Improv Acting for Teens

Utilizing theatre games and scene work, in this class teens are taught the fundamentals of improvisation. Focusing mostly on short-form improvisation, they are given tools for their acting toolbox that will serve them on stage, screen and in the classroom. While building an ensemble, students learn about teamwork and listening with their whole body. Every actor needs to know how to relax and react on stage, in this class they do so while building a scene with focus on character, environment and relationship. They are encouraged to explore these skills in a safe and respectful environment. The class culminates with a showcase for family and friends at Limelight Theatre in Saint Augustine.

Improv Acting for Adults
