Tactile Art Show at Limelight Theatre

03.17.2009

In conjunction with The Miracle Worker, Limelight Theatre is featuring a tactile art show in their Box Office Lobby.  All the art in the lobby is touchable and visitors are encouraged to touch and explore.  The exhibit has been put together by Yolanda Bosworth, Jill Cerulli, Jean Light Willis and Patty Woods, all local artists with works from previous tactile art shows that focus on making art available for persons with vision loss.

Jean Light Willis presented the first tactile show seven years ago at her own gallery on Aviles Street.  October is Art Beyond Sight Awareness month.  The St. Augustine Art Association is now one of more than 200 Art Beyond Sight collaborative partners world wide who present a touchable art show each October.

The Miracle Worker and the tactile art show runs through April 5 at the Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission Avenue.  Box Office hours are 10 – 4 Tuesday through Sunday and visitors are welcome to browse all the art on exhibit.  In addition, the theatre is open 90 minutes before showtime Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons during the run of a production.  For more information, phone 825-1164 or go to www.limelight-theatre.org.

The above work is a mixed media piece by Jill Ceruilli and can be seen at The Limelight through April 5.
