Limelight and Miracle Worker Serve Educational Community

03.24.2009

A large part of Limelight Theatre's outreach to the community comes through our interaction with young people.  We reach out to the younger arts community through school visits and our KIDZfACTory programs as well as with daytime presentations of relevant mainstage shows.

On March 24, student groups from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, Murray Middle School and a local home schoolers association attended a 10:00 am performance of The Miracle Worker.  Interpretation for the hearing impaired was provided by Heather Corry.

After the play, Box Office Manager Kristin Pidcock invited the students to stay for a question and answer session with the cast.  After a few minutes of initial shyness, the questions flew.  How did you get involved in acting?  What happened to Helen in later years?  Did you mean to fall onstage?  (This, being directed at one rather chagrined actress who lost her footing at a crucial moment and kept on going.)  All questions were answered enthusiastically by the cast.

After the presentation students were invited to pick up literature on upcoming Spring and Summer Limelight KIDZfACTory programs.
