CELEBRATING 35 SEASONS, LIMELIGHT THEATRE INVITES AUDIENCES TO TAKE FLIGHT WITH CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
September 11–27: Broadway Hit Opens the Theatre's Milestone Anniversary Season with Big Dreams, Big Music and Unforgettable Entertainment
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - August 26, 2026 - Every great story begins with taking a chance. As Limelight Theatre celebrates 35 years of bringing live theatre to Northeast Florida, the nonprofit launches its landmark anniversary season with the dazzling Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can, running September 11–27, 2026.
Based on the hit DreamWorks film and the incredible true story of master con artist Frank Abagnale Jr., Catch Me If You Can follows a charismatic teenager whose ambition, quick wit and imagination allow him to reinvent himself as an airline pilot, doctor and lawyer—all while staying one step ahead of the relentless FBI agent determined to catch him.
Featuring a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray), a book by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, and spectacular choreography inspired by the glamour of the jet-setting 1960s, the musical delivers a fast-paced adventure filled with humor, heart and unforgettable Broadway entertainment.
As the curtain rises on its 35th Anniversary Season, Limelight Theatre celebrates not only the productions that have shaped its history, but also the community that has supported generations of performers, volunteers and audiences. Opening the season with a story centered on chasing dreams and embracing new opportunities reflects the theatre's continued commitment to inspiring, entertaining and connecting the community through live performance.
“For 35 seasons, Limelight Theatre has brought people together through the power of live theatre,” said Missy Schmotzer, interim executive director and education director of Limelight Theatre. “Catch Me If You Can" is a fun and exciting way to kick off this milestone season. It’s full of energy, heart and big dreams—everything we hope audiences will experience throughout our 35th season. We’re excited to welcome the community back and celebrate this special year together.”
Since opening its doors in 1992, Limelight Theatre has become one of Northeast Florida's premier community theatres, producing award-winning musicals, dramas and comedies while fostering local talent and enriching the cultural landscape of St. Augustine.
Catch Me If You Can is the first production in Limelight Theatre's 35th Anniversary Season, which features an exciting lineup of Broadway favorites, beloved classics and contemporary productions celebrating the theatre's enduring legacy and bright future.
